Rural Montana Cabin Elopement & Adventure Session

June 16, 2023

It seems we’ve been on a country kick lately, since we recently shared the most fun-loving country wedding in Iowa on the blog – so let’s keep the rodeo goin’! We got do to photo + video for Becca and Mike’s rural Montana cabin elopement (and day-after adventure session!) last fall, and it was a freaking blast. The whole day was so chill, relaxed, and everybody really just focused on being present with the group + enjoying this country getaway together. If you love beer drinkin’, mountain views, and golden sunsets over wheat fields, you are going to LOVE all the fun country vibes that Becca and Mike incorporated into their big day.

Becca & Mike’s Country Cabin Elopement in Livingston, Montana

A week-long cabin getaway for the whole fam

We freakin’ love when couples make their elopement into a weekend trip, but you know what’s even better than that? A WEEK-LONG celebration! Becca and Mike’s families rented a huge Airbnb cabin in Livingston, and all stayed for the week to enjoy some super special time together. This cabin was epic, with tons of space for everybody to spread out + the most beautiful grassy lawn and wheat fields to use for their elopement day. It was the most amazing place to enjoy this gorgeous sunny, fall day in Montana and to take in the breathtaking mountain views all week long. Then after their families left, Becca and Mike went on their own adventure in Glacier National Park – we thought it was awesome that they spent so much time with their loved ones, but also made sure to have their own time together to bask in all the newlywed love + explore together!

A riverside first look & vow exchange

After getting ready for the big day with their closest friends & fam, Becca and Mike met up by the river for their first look, and wow was it GORGEOUS. The sun was out and the colors of the hill behind them looked so beautiful as they said their vows in private, with just the two of them & the mountains to witness! Having a private vow exchange is such a great option for couples who either don’t want to say their personal vows in front of everybody and want to just recite the traditional vows at their ceremony, or who want to say them in private first to have a special moment before their public ceremony. There are no rules!! And of course, we snapped a bunchhh of photos of these two basking in the glow of the sunshine as they had a private first dance together, too. Becca then had a super sweet first look with her dad before they hid away to freshen up + get ready for the ceremony.

Blue skies & mountain views for days

Becca and Mike tied the knot with a stunning ceremony on the grassy lawn, with the blue sky and sun beaming overhead, and the silhouettes of the mountains way off in the distance. We loved the wooden arbor they stood under, which was decorated with gorgeous vines of greenery and white flowers – it was super simple but added such a nice touch to the already beautiful scenery around them!

Country-lovin’ golden hour elopement portraits

When we say we had the best weather ever for this fall elopement in Montana, we mean it – just look at that DREAMY golden hour we had as the sun went down?! The wheat fields were glowing and sooo perfect for Becca and Mike’s sunset portraits. We got that gorgeous backlight that everybody dreams of but we also had fun playing around with some direct sunlight, and these two freaking killed it for every shot.

A dreamy reception setup (AKA intimate elopement goals)

Sometimes we talk to couples who think that if they elope, they can’t have a reception – but that is SO not the case. Becca and Mike had an amazing reception outside the cabin, where they set up a beautiful long table on the lawn, decorated with rustic greenery and simple little white candles. It was sooo magical as the sun went down over the hills and we got a beautiful sunset. Everybody was enjoying themselves so much throughout the cocktail hour, toasts, first dances, and cake cutting, and they ended the night in the cutest way, with beers & laughs around the campfire! It got surprisingly cold once nighttime hit, so the warmth of the campfire was much appreciated by everyone.

A fun day-after adventure session in Livingston

The fun wasn’t over yet, though, because the next day, we headed out with Becca and Mike for a fun adventure session! They went fly fishing in the river (how adorable are they), and then we took a long drive to hike to a gorgeous waterfall in the wilderness for extra portraits. Exploring with these two was SO fun, especially since we all share a love for Taylor Swift and listened to her the whole way back from our waterfall hike 🤣 Freaking love our couples, this Montana cabin elopement was such a blast!
