Andrea + Ian’s Vintage Car Photoshoot

A love that feels both old-soul & brand new

We’ve worked with Andrea + Ian on several creative shoots since their wedding, both here in the states and in Mexico—and man do we adore the hell outta them. Not only are they, ummm, stunning in front of the camera, but they’re always SO down to play around with fun concepts, creative ideas, and unique visions, just like this vintage car photoshoot we’d been dreaming up. Fortunately, Andrea’s grandpa had a killer old Chrysler Cordoba that we were able to borrow!

We wanted to put together a shoot that felt both nostalgic and modern; a shoot that would celebrate the good old days while also embracing the current ones. We hope this inspires you to put together your own vintage car shoot, whether it’s for your engagement session, a just-for-fun couples session, or maybe even some themed newlywed portraits on your elopement/wedding day 🔥 Scroll for alllll the dreamy romance + nostalgic vibes, and then keep reading to find out our top 3 tips for the best vintage car photos!

3 Tips for Your Vintage Car Engagement Shoot

1. Outfits + accessories are key

First thing’s first: wearing the right outfits is a GAME-CHANGER for a vintage car shoot. Andrea + Ian absolutely nailed it with theirs, opting for two sets of outfits: the first one a little fancier, almost giving off bridal vibes. Ian kept it classic, just like the car behind him, with a white button-up, dark brown trousers, and a pair of killer white loafers. Andrea looked straight out of a 1950’s-era rom-com in her all-white look, rocking a pair of bright white heels, a charming white dress, elbow-length gloves, oversized sunglasses, and a floral bandana. 100/10, could not have put together a better outfit if we tried.

They went a bit more casual-chic with the second pair of outfits, Andrea swapping her dress for a minimalist off-white long-sleeve top, light-wash blue jeans, and a lightweight bandana covered in dainty florals. Ian’s deep brown top and blue jeans went perfectly with the earth tones of the landscapes around them—and they both looked adorable + carefree AF with their bare feet in the grass!

2. Lighten the mood with your favorite playlist

We’re big fans of keeping your session light and playful—because isn’t that the kinda vibe we’re going for with a vintage car, anyway?! The whole goal is to capture the nostalgia, romance, and joy of those “good old days,” so let’s grab your fave playlist and put it on during our session. We find that having some tunes on in the background can make being in front of the camera feel a little less stressful, and can really immerse you in the whole experience even further! If you need some reccs, we’ve got you covered 😎

3. Pick a photographer you adore

Our final tip. . . hire a photographer you trust and love! They are going to play SUCH a huge role in how your vintage car engagement photos turn out, from grabbing all the best angles to capturing the light bouncing off the car windows in just the right way. More than anything, though, you want to make sure to work with a photographer who you’re totally comfortable with: someone who creates a laid-back, relaxed, and stress-free environment where you can simply be present. . . without worrying about how you look. It’s essential that you’re able to put your trust in them to capture the most flattering angles, provide easy and natural prompts, and allow you to be your true selves with them.

That’s why, at Elope With TKM, we really focus on getting to know our couples on another level before we shoot with them! Documenting you at your most authentic, relaxed, and comfortable is our #1 priority. Because without that, how are we supposed to get epic photos that tell your genuine love story?! If you’re not quite sure where to start with your search, we put together a list of 10 key things to look for in a photo + video team to help you out.

Aaand if you’re ready to get your elopement, wedding, or session on the books with a photo + video duo who you’ll have a blast with every step of the way, reach out and let’s see if we’ve got the vibe you’re looking for! 🤙
