All-Day Adventure Elopement in Redwoods National Park

Olivia & David exchanged vows amidst the towering giants of the Redwoods National Park, with nature as their witness, and it was a dream come true. We had an amazing time exploring the Redwoods with them, including the incredible coastline of the Samuel H Boardman State Scenic Corridor! 10/10 would recommend eloping among the majestic Redwoods and celebrating with a coastal adventure 💍

Olivia + David’s Redwoods National Park Elopement

An all-day adventure across the forest + coast

Coming all the way from West Virginia, Olivia and David told us that they wanted to elope in either Southern Oregon or Northern California. We said wait. . . we can do you one better. How about both?!

This is one of the reasons we’re so obsessed with elopements in the Redwoods of Northern California: they are SO close to the Oregon Coast that you’re able to hit ‘em both in the same day. So we did just that with Olivia and David, taking them on a wild and once-in-a-lifetime quest through the towering redwoods of Northern California, all the way up to the dramatic coastline of Oregon. We truly did the most with the time we had, and turned their elopement from a simple forest ceremony into an epic, all-day adventure.

Anyway, we’ll step off our soapbox (for now) about why you should have a Redwoods/Oregon Coast elopement, and dive into what made Olivia + David’s day so special.

First look and letter readings at their Airbnb

We started the day with these two around 7am, meeting at the cozy Gold Beach Airbnb they’d booked for their time in the area. Nestled on a scenic hill amongst gorgeous trees and mountain views, it was the perfect spot for Olivia and David to have their first look! Once they’d finished getting ready, they found one another out on the lawn of the property and shared a super sweet, emotional moment together. They read letters from friends and family, which is one of our favorite ways to feel the love from the most important people in your life—without actually inviting them to your elopement. It’s always such a sentimental moment to share together, and allows you to celebrate with your favorite humans in spirit!

A stunning ceremony in the Jedediah Smith Redwoods

Off we went into the Redwoods, feeling super excited because it was the most gorgeous October day, and we knew the shining sun would be pure magic in the forest. And boy were we right; as soon as we stepped into Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park, we were greeted with glorious rays of sunshine seeping through the massive trees, incredible lighting, and wildly vibrant greenery all around us. What an insane location to exchange vows and commit yourself to the love of your life—it’s one of those places that reminds you of just how big and beautiful the world around you is. And what more could you ask for when you’re celebrating such a monumental moment in your life?

An unforgettable evening exploring the Oregon Coast

After Corey (who was officiating!) pronounced Olivia and David married, we continued on with our Redwoods adventure for a little while longer before venturing to the coast. Ready to sit down and enjoy a picnic lunch with champagne, cake, and charcuterie, we stopped at Crescent Beach Overlook, and oh man—the views were UNREAL. Clear blue skies, gentle mist rolling over the seastacks, the deep blue waves rolling onto the sandy shores. . . we seriously could’ve stayed there for the rest of the day and been totally content.

But lo and behold, we had more exploring to do! We spent the rest of the evening stopping at scenic overlook and viewpoints on our way to Whaleshead Beach, which is this incredibly beautiful beach on the Southern Oregon Coast. Mother nature gifted us with a totally magical golden hour, just in time for Olivia + David to share a private first dance by the water, swaying to music we played on a speaker set in the sand. You don’t need a big dance floor or a huge audience in order to have a meaningful first dance. . . sometimes, all you need is your partner, a song, and a stunning location.

A chill evening back at the Airbnb

By the time blue hour came around, we’d pretty much visited every spot on our list, and it was time to head back to the Airbnb for a laid-back evening! Olivia and David wrapped up the night with a champagne pop, a pizza dinner, and a smoke—because that’s what felt true to them. This goes to show that the evening of your elopement doesn’t need to involve a catered dinner or a fancy tablescape (unless you want it to); it can be as simple as enjoying a drink together, cozying up in a hot tub, or sharing a joint. If it feels like you, it’s perfect!
